Accelerating progress towards the targets of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6.
The UN-Water 2030 Strategy represents a collective way forward to address the water and sanitation challenges over a ten-year period with necessary focus, urgency, effectiveness and coherence. As the 2030 Strategy will take UN-Water to the target date for the 2030 Agenda , it has a focus on accelerating progress towards the targets of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 , which at the start of the 2030 Strategy period are alarmingly off-track, as well as other relevant global targets. Thus, the SDG 6 Global Acceleration Framework , launched in 2020 as part of the Decade of Action to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, constitutes a central element of the 2030 Strategy. The 2030 Strategy builds on UN-Water’s 2014-2020 Strategy , Terms of Reference and mandate, and the UN-Water External Review 2018 .
